ConnecTX: A Solution Dr Josh cropWorth Exploring

by Dr. Joshua Leuppie

connetx1What is ConnecTX ?

IASTM-Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation; An effective method to break up stubborn scar tissue to restore proper motion and decrease pain levels.

ConnecTX is an IASTM that allows the practitioner to use an evidence based, scientifically proven technique to help decrease the harmful effects injured connective tissue/scar tissue build up can cause.

While using manual, hands on massage is extremely beneficial to helping most musculoskeletal injuries heal in an efficient amount of time, sometimes a different approach is needed. While the muscle and some connective tissue will respond to manual massage, there are different types of connective tissue that is “tougher”, a prime example is scar tissue, that requires a more focused force to enable the tissue to release. Someone that has had a severe sprained ankle, low back surgery, or a torn rotator cuff, anything causing scar tissue build up may need a more aggressive technique to reach that goal of a pain free lifestyle.

In fact what tends to get lost in the shuffle of surgery and the rehabilitation associated with it, is the importance of treating the post surgical site. Scar tissue is non-contractile, which means it will limit range of motion. Scar tissue will also link every tissue layer that they must cut through to complete the purpose of the surgery, therefore if the site is not treated then there is a good chance that the scar tissue build up will restrict motion and cause issues later on. Working, and breaking up the scar tissue is an extremely important part in a post surgical rehab routine!

Healthy Chicken-and-Cheese-Stuffed Sweet Potatoes

From: foodnetwork.com

This protein-packed spud is satisfying, healthy and easy to make.

Total:20 min
Active: 5 min
Serves: 1

1 medium sweet potato, pierced all over with a fork
1/4 cup shredded skinless cooked chicken breast (rotisserie or leftover)
3 tablespoons shredded mild Cheddar
Kosher salt
1/2 small avocado
1 tablespoon salsa verde
1 scallion, sliced

Microwave the sweet potato on high until tender (when you squeeze it with a clean dish towel, it should feel really soft), about 5 minutes. Let sit for a few minutes.

Cut the potato in half but not all the way through. Using the dish towel to hold the potato in place, scoop out the flesh into a small bowl. Add the chicken, Cheddar and a pinch salt and mash everything together with a fork. Fill the potato skin with the mixture.

Cut the avocado into small pieces. Drizzle the stuffed potato with the salsa verde and top with the avocado and scallion.
