You may not be aware that Chiropractic care throughout your pregnancy is not only safe for both you and your baby but it can also help your body be in the best possible shape for childbirth!
Chiropractors use a special technique, called The Webster Technique, during pregnancy in order to align your pelvis correctly. Proper alignment decreases interference to the nervous system and balances maternal pelvic muscles and ligaments. This in turn decreases torsion, or twisting, in the uterus which is a cause of intra-uterine constraint for the baby.
Intra-uterine constraint can obstruct normal movement of the fetus which can prevent him/her from attaining a head down position for vaginal birth, resulting in a cesarean section delivery. By working with the mother’s pelvis, Chiropractic allows for optimal fetal positioning in preparation for birth.
This Chiropractic technique is NOT to be confused with the practice of Obstetrics and is not a “breech turning technique.” Chiropractors adjust and balance the pelvis in order to make the best possible home for your baby during pregnancy.
The Webster Technique is performed by Doctors of Chiropractic that have been certified in this particular type of care. Training and certification is done through the International Chiropractic Pediatrics Association (ICPA). Here at Riverview Chiropractic Health we have three Doctors of Chiropractic that are Webster certified and therefore specialize in providing pre and post-natal care for our patients as well as for their growing families.
If you have questions regarding pregnancy care, please call to speak with one of our doctors who can help determine whether or not Chiropractic is right for you. Additionally, please remember to discuss all questions and concerns that you may have with your healthcare provider!
